Members Shelagh Wain and Lynda turner scoop first prizes at the Annual National Association of Writing Groups Conference held at Warwick University in September.


Shelagh won the formal poem competition and Lynda gained first place with her 10 Minute Play "The Lace-maker's Gift".

Both received an engraved trophy presented by author Gervase Phinn.

Welcome to Burton  Monday Writers

Burton Monday Writers is a friendly group of people interested in producing short stories, poetry, scripts and novels. We welcome anyone over the age of 19 writing in any genre of creative writing. 
Why not come and try out your skills in a friendly and supportive environment? We do occasionally have places
available, however, for an effective writing group to 
function we have to restrict membership numbers.

  • Burton Monday Writers was formed in September 2000 by Maggs Payne, who saw a need for a daytime creative writing group in the area. Maggs found the perfect venue - Burton Town Centre Library. After contacting two fellow writers, Maggs launched Burton Monday Writers
